BIRDING GOURMET

Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Join an expert-guided hike in the Arroyo Conejo Reservoir (ZEPA area), exploring the natural heritage and biodiversity of Campiña Sur.

From the viewpoint, bird watching workshop for cranes, anatidae and birds of prey. End with tasting of Iberian cured meats, local cheese and wine from the region, plus picnic bag with sliced meats, cheese, water, napkins and peaks.

Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Hiking activity in the Finca Las Mil Quinientas, an Asset of Cultural Interest in Llera, which combines nature, photography and ethnographic tradition. The route goes through landscapes such as "Los Pastueros", viewpoints of "El Búho" and "El Alto", and enclaves such as the "Gargantilla" fountain, discovering the rural history of sheep and pigs in extensive farming. Includes nature photography workshop with a professional.

It ends with a tasting of typical products and wine of the Campiña Sur, along with a picnic bag with local products.

24491 2 PHOTO SENDERISM We propose a hiking activity in which photography, nature, landscape interpretation and ethnographic tradition converge as a cultural exponent and transmitted for centuries from generation to generation. The activity takes place in the Finca Las Mil Quinientas, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest with the category of Place of Ethnological Interest and belonging to the town of Llera. The route starts at the tail of the reservoir of Los Molinos and will run through the landscape known as "Los Pastueros" to learn about the tradition of huts and zahurdas, and enjoy the views offered by the viewpoints of the "Buho" and "Alto" as well as the source of the "Gargantilla" and the fence of the "Cows", to understand the evolution of the landscape through human intervention to generate food through extensive sheep and pig farming. During the activity we will be accompanied by a professional photographer who will give a photography workshop in which we will learn composition and lighting techniques in nature photography with punctual technical stops. Finally, we will enjoy a tasting of typical products of the land accompanied by wine from the region of Campiña Sur. A picnic bag will be handed out, including Iberian sliced meat, local cheese, bread, a bottle of water, napkins and a bag of colines. Immerse yourself in the heritage legacy of Llerena, one of the best historic sites in Extremadura, with a guided tour by a local expert to Mudejar art, the Order of Santiago, the Inquisition, the historic center, religious-civil heritage and the workshop of Zurbarán (with his painting in the Church of Our Lady of the Granada).

Culminates with a tasting of artisan chocolate explained by a master chocolatier, Santa Clara convent sweets and semi-sweet wine from the region.

24492 2 LLERENA, HERITAGE AND GASTRONOMY IN FULL HANDS We propose an immersion in the heritage legacy of Llerena, one of the best Historical and Artistic Sites of Extremadura, which will be joined by its famous artisan chocolate and conventual sweets. The activity will begin with a visit by a local guide on the imposing architectural legacy of Llerena, with an important presence of an excellent Mudejar art that shows the power of what was the former headquarters of the Order of Santiago and the Holy Inquisition. It will be a tour through its historic center to understand its history and discover its impressive religious and civil heritage, as well as the link of the town with Francisco de Zurbarán, Spanish painter of universal projection who established his workshop in this town, being able to observe today an important painting of his in the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Granada. After the visit and for dessert there will be a tasting of the food of the gods, chocolate, explained by a local master chocolatier, and all accompanied by the exquisite conventual sweets of Santa Clara along with an exquisite semi-sweet wine of the region, a divine gift for your palate. Embark on a journey of history and flavor in Villagarcía de la Torre, with a guided tour of its castle (keep), churches, convents and ancestral architecture. Follow with astronomical observation in the castle guided by an expert to discover the firmament.

It ends with a tasting of Iberian cured meats, local cheeses and local wine, plus a picnic bag with sliced meats, cheeses, peaks, water and napkin.

Visit to the Jayona Mine, a Natural Monument, with a guided tour of its impressive geology and biodiversity. Continue to the Ermita de la Virgen del Ara, known as the "Sistine Chapel of Extremadura" for its spectacular Mudejar frescoes.

The experience will include an oil and wine tasting led by an expert, accompanied by Iberian products and local cheeses. Attendees will receive a picnic bag and children will enjoy must instead of wine.

24494 2 FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE EARTH TO THE TOP OF THE CUP We propose a visit to the Mina de la Jayona, declared a Natural Monument to which joins a tasting of oils, wines, Iberian products and cheese that will take place inside the mine. It will begin with a tour of the mine, a real geological spectacle and endemic biodiversity guided by the technical staff of the mine itself. Then, the visit will continue at the Ermita de la Virgen del Ara, declared of Cultural Interest and 6 kilometers away from the mine. A Mudejar style hermitage known as the "Sistine Chapel of Extremadura" for its spectacular fresco paintings that occupy the entire space of vaults and interior walls. After the visits, there will be a tasting of olive oil from the region, followed by a tasting of two wines arguing the importance of minerality in wine. The oil and wine tasting will be explained by an expert. The route will continue at the Museum of the Civil War, where you can visit a recreated trench and learn about historical material of the conflict, culminating with an interpretation of the military front from its viewpoint. The day will end with a tasting of "migas extremeñas" accompanied by local wine.

24496 2 DISCOVER THE WAR HERITAGE OF THE CIVIL WAR The town of Campillo de Llerena hosts one of the most emblematic places of the Spanish Civil War, known as the "Cemetery of the Italians", an authentic place of memory of the Military Front of the Sierra de los Argallenes, a space of warlike confrontation from autumn 1936 to July 1938. We propose a guided visit by expert to the Cemetery of the Italians, from there we will move to the Museum of the Civil War in Campillo de Llerena, two kilometers away, to see the recreation of a military trench, observation of the various exhibition material that allows to understand how was the war conflict and from the viewpoint of the Museum will be exposed and interpreted, looking at the horizon of the Sierra de los Argallenes, as was the evolution of the military front until the closure of the Exchange or Battle of La Serena. After that, to finish, there will be a tasting of "migas extremeñas" with its viands accompanied by local wine.
